Qualitätswein - Gelblack (yellow seal) - The wine is full-bodied as well as fragrant with ripe yellow fruit aromas.
In 2006 it is a wonderful balanced type of Riesling, from a vintage with absolute difficult conditions.

Kabinett - Rotlack (red seal) - A very delicate, lively but mouth filling wine. Typical ripe Riesling
aromas combined with a perfect balance of fruitiness and a smooth acidity
makes this Riesling very elegant with a great finess.

Spätlese (late harvest) - Grünlack (green seal) - It is incidentally, here at Schloss Johannisberg, that the first botrytis
affected wine was ever made in 1775. Before these rotten grapes were almost
destroyed, since no one knew the difference between grey and noble rot.
This 2006 Spätlese has a green-apple nose which combines with peach fruit. Juicy initially, like biting in a bunch of ripe grapes, followed by a wave of minerals. It has considerable substance and an enormous elegance. It is a complete and wonderfully balanced late harvest Riesling. - 2006 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling
Auslese - Rosalack (pink seal) - A rich and dense wine of clear Riesling fruit flavours, very concentrated.
Aromas of exotic fruits and the zest of an orange - clear taste with an
elegant length - rich and silky smooth. Exploding on the palate - a fantastic
complexity.
An excellent accompaniment with blue cheeses or as an after dinner drink - good lingering finish.
Slightly chilled also great as an aperitif. - 2006 Schloss Johannisberger Riesling
Beerenauslese - Rosa-Goldlack (pink-gold seal) - Unbelievable rich, concentrated flavours of exotic fruits. Hints of caramel
and orange-peel underlied by a cashmerelike texture, makes this wine an
absolute rarity from an outstanding vintage.
Perfect matching with pâte of goose-liver.

Long before labels were invented to mark bottles according to the
wine inside, Schloss Johannisberg already distinguished the different ripeness
levels of the wines by using differently coloured seals.
With the change of the wine law in 1971, the coloured seals adapted to the ripeness level definitions of the law. Schloss Johannisberg uses the following classification:
Gelblack = YELLOW = Qualitätswein
Rotlack = RED = Kabinett
Grünlack = GREEN = Spätlese
Silberlack = SILVER = "Erstes Gewächs"
Rosalack = ROSE = Auslese
Rosa-Goldlack = ROSE-GOLD = Beerenauslese
Goldlack = GOLD = Trockenbeerenauslese
Blaulack = BLUE = Eiswein
